COMSATS Institute of Information Technology, in line with its social responsibility, launches rehabilitation program called “Adopt a Family (AAF)” for the flood affected people of Pakistan. According to UN spokesman Maurizio Giuliano, over four million flood affected people of Pakistan have lost their shelter. Approx. 20 million people are victims of the havoc and need support for their rehabilitation.
The main objective of the program is to provide financial sustenance (post flood period) to the flood affected families so that they can stand on their feet and earn their living. The program includes identifying twenty thousand donors and twenty thousand flood affected families. The donor will pay Rs. 10,000 per month directly to the flood affected family till June 2011. If the flood affected family becomes self sufficient before June 2011, the donor will fund another family still requiring sustenance.
